Liverpool vs. Everton, FA Cup semi final at Wembley.
TheLiverpoolWord author Karl Matchett will be hosting a live text commentary blog on Bleacher Report for the FA Cup fixture between Liverpool and Everton.
Kicking off at 12:30pm UK time, the match will see the Reds attempt to reach a second domestic cup final of the season at the expense of their Merseyside neighbours Everton.
The occasion will also be marked by the 23rd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster (the day after the fixture), as both teams will present flowers to the families affected, and the players will wear black armbands.
Saturday’s fixture will be the first time Liverpool and Everton have met at Wembley since the FA Cup final in 1989—the final after Hillsborough itself.
Both sets of supporters have been eagerly anticipating the semi-final for some time after Liverpool overcame Stoke City in the quarter-finals and Everton did the same to Sunderland after a replay.
In the Premier League Everton currently stand a point above the Reds after a woeful run of form from Kenny Dalglish’s men, but the midweek last-minute victory over Blackburn Rovers will give cause for optimism.
Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson have both been working their way back to fitness after injury with league appearances in the last week, while Brad Jones will become the first ever player to make his first four appearances for Liverpool in four different competitions if, as expected, he starts in goal for the Reds with Pepe Reina and Alexander Doni suspended.
Follow the match with TLW on Bleacher Report and feel free to leave your comments, either here or on the live commentary itself.
COME ON LIVERPOOL!!
